The following affirmations were very helpful to me during my recovery from cancer and four surgeries. I pass them on to all with good wishes to those who are facing challenges of any kind, and especially my heart goes out to those souls who are going through chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

After my second surgery (within one week), I could hear the resident physician telling the nurse, "Her bowels need to awaken." The term, "awaken" reminded me of Paramahansa Yogananda's Scientific Healing Affirmations, which I have been practicing for many years. So, I began repeating mentally the following affirmations (for how long I do not know) while trying to mentally send energy to the corresponding body parts as Paramahansa Yogananda teaches. After a while I could hear the resident physician say to the nurse, "She has crossed over" and I inwardly thanked my omnipresent Master, who is one in Spirit, for his grace.

This affirmation is the first affirmation from the book of Scientific Healing Affirmations, which I read through everyday, sometimes twice a day while in the hospital and nursing homes, as well as during my long recovery period at home. I still find them of great benenfit today.

Sri Daya Mataji was inspired by the above quotation. So she made a sign, which hung on the the door of her room and which is now part of a display honoring the Centennial Anniversary of her birth. The display includes some of Sri Daya Mata's personal items and photos from her trips to India and is located in the Administration Building of the Self-Realization Fellowship's International Headquarters at Mt. Washington, California, known as the Mother Center. Her sign bears the signature of Paramahansa Yogananda in the lower right corner, who dated it in the early 1950's.
